About the Role
A supportive and nurturing school setting in Gravesend is seeking an experienced and resilient SEMH Teacher to join their team on a long-term basis. This role involves working with pupils who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, providing a structured and engaging learning environment that supports both their academic and emotional development.
This is a full teaching role, requiring full classroom responsibilities including planning, preparation, marking, and assessment, alongside a strong focus on behaviour support and emotional wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver tailored and engaging lessons to meet the individual needs of pupils with SEMH
- Plan, prepare, and assess work in line with curriculum expectations and EHCP targets where appropriate
- Implement effective behaviour management strategies to support pupils with additional needs
- Build strong, trusting relationships to support pupils’ emotional regulation and engagement
- Monitor and track pupil progress, adapting approaches to support development
- Work collaboratively with support staff, SENCO, and senior leadership
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to reports and reviews
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Experience working with pupils with SEMH needs or within a specialist setting
- Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
- A calm, patient, and resilient approach
- Ability to build positive relationships and inspire pupils
- Commitment to supporting both academic and personal development
