About the Role

A supportive and nurturing school setting in Gravesend is seeking an experienced and resilient SEMH Teacher to join their team on a long-term basis. This role involves working with pupils who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, providing a structured and engaging learning environment that supports both their academic and emotional development.

This is a full teaching role, requiring full classroom responsibilities including planning, preparation, marking, and assessment, alongside a strong focus on behaviour support and emotional wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver tailored and engaging lessons to meet the individual needs of pupils with SEMH
  • Plan, prepare, and assess work in line with curriculum expectations and EHCP targets where appropriate
  • Implement effective behaviour management strategies to support pupils with additional needs
  • Build strong, trusting relationships to support pupils’ emotional regulation and engagement
  • Monitor and track pupil progress, adapting approaches to support development
  • Work collaboratively with support staff, SENCO, and senior leadership
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to reports and reviews

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience working with pupils with SEMH needs or within a specialist setting
  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach
  • Ability to build positive relationships and inspire pupils
  • Commitment to supporting both academic and personal development
