Full Time Teaching Assistant – Orpington


We are currently working with a one-form primary school based in Orpington, uniquely situated with extensive outdoor learning environments. The school prides itself on a dedicated staff team committed to ensuring every child succeeds and is well prepared for life’s challenges.

This caring and stimulating school provides a nurturing environment where children thrive, learn, and enjoy their time. The building is all on the ground floor, featuring a large central hall, separate playgrounds for KS1 and KS2, and a spacious field used for sports and learning activities with potential for further development.

The Role
The successful candidate will work under the direction of the Head Teacher or other nominated staff, providing supervision and learning support to pupils both one-to-one and in small groups. They will assist teaching staff with classroom organisation and practical preparation for lessons and assessments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people

  • Support pupils using specialist skills, recognising individual learning needs

  • Build positive relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and encouraging independence

  • Supervise pupils, including those with additional needs, ensuring safety and engagement

  • Promote good behaviour, manage conflicts, and encourage pupil responsibility

  • Collaborate with teachers in lesson planning and adapting activities to meet pupil needs

  • Monitor and evaluate pupil progress, record achievements, and provide feedback to teachers

  • Maintain records, mark pupil work, and contribute to reporting systems

  • Support literacy, numeracy, and IT skill development through learning activities

  • Promote inclusion and equal access, adhering to safeguarding, health, and safety policies

  • Participate in school activities including trips, meetings, and professional development

The Ideal Candidate – Qualifications & Experience:

  • Good standard of education: GCSE Maths and English or equivalent

  • Experience delivering whole class teaching

  • A holistic approach to pupil well-being and education

  • Ability to challenge and engage children with creative learning opportunities and high expectations

  • Creative thinker committed to delivering the school’s vision

  • Effective communication skills

  • Motivation to work with children and young people

  • Ability to form and maintain appropriate relationships and boundaries with pupils
