Head of Mathematics – Kent


Our client is a state Grammar school based in Kent that has an exceptional track history and reputation.
The school provides offers an academic curriculum that is highly demanding but design for high results, as well as co-curricular activities that enhance and develop our pupils such as sport, music and drama.

The position comes with a TLR 1b responsibility.

Key Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Prepare schemes of work and a syllabus of Mathematics throughout the School and to monitor
  • Provide strategic and academic leadership to the Maths department.
  • Play a key role in developing shaping curriculum development across Key Stages 3 to 5
  • To provide detailed instruction in all areas of mathematics in order to boost overall attainment
  • Maintain the policy for the teaching of Mathematics and related issues throughout the school
  • Attend Staff Meetings, Parent’s Evenings and any other functions as required by the Head
  • Undertake a certain amount of administration and other tasks related to the post either at the direction of the Head or by using his or her initiative
  • Build confidence in pupils, support their pastoral needs and create a climate where learning is enjoyable and children are relaxed
  • Safeguard health and safety matters

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or (QTLS)
  • Experience of delivering Mathematics at KS3, KS4, A Level and Further Maths
  • Proven track record of strong student outcomes
  • Experience or potential to lead and inspire a department
  • A degree in Mathematics or related subject
