School’s to reopen on the 8th March

What is the plan?

On the 8 March

  • All schools and colleges will reopen
  • University students can return for practical courses. There will be a review by the end of the Easter holidays for all other students
  • Face coverings are recommended in class for secondary school students and also for parents and staff in primary schools
  • Wraparound childcare can also return for vulnerable pupils and where it is needed for parents or carers to go to work, support groups or to seek medical care
  • Two people from different households can meet outside for recreation, which can include “a coffee on a bench”
  • One nominated person can visit care homes, but will need PPE, a lateral flow test and to “keep physical contact to a minimum”

BBC Young Reporter

BBC young reporter

BBC Young Reporter is an exciting opportunity for young people to get involved with the BBC.

If you are 11 to 18 years old then this is a chance for you to tell the stories that matter to you.

BBC Young Reporter works in partnership with schools, colleges, youth organisations and charities to provide young people with the skills they need to create and understand the media.

Schools and organisations taking part will benefit from access to exclusive events, training and resources, as well as mentoring and career talks from BBC staff and journalists.

The project is backed by the likes of Huw Edwards, Tina Daheley, Radio 1’s Greg James and Katie Thistleton, The One Show’s Alex Jones, BBC Newsbeat’s Roisin Hastie and Ben Mundy and Newsround’s Ricky Boleto.
