Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Year 5 Teacher to join a supportive and well-established primary school in Orpington. This is a full-time class teaching role with full classroom responsibilities.
The successful candidate will take ownership of a Year 5 class, deliver engaging and high-quality lessons while ensure all pupils are supported and challenged to achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons in line with the Key Stage 2 curriculum
- Take full responsibility for the Year 5 class, including planning, marking and assessment
- Track and monitor pupil progress, using data to inform planning and interventions
- Create a positive, inclusive and well-managed classroom environment
- Implement effective behaviour management strategies in line with school policy
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, support staff and senior leadership
- Attend staff meetings, training and school events as required
- Communicate effectively with parents and carers
Person Specification
Essential:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Recent experience teaching in Key Stage 2 (preferably Year 5)
- Strong understanding of the UK National Curriculum
- Proven ability to manage a classroom effectively
- Ability to plan and deliver engaging lessons that meet a range of learning needs
- Strong organisational and communication skills
Desirable:
- Experience teaching upper Key Stage 2
- Strong knowledge of assessment and pupil progress tracking
- Experience preparing pupils for end-of-key-stage expectations

Additional Information
- This is a fixed-term position from 5th May until the end of the academic year (July)
